Do christmas day/dinner arrangements often cause arguments in your family?

Some aunts are getting upset because my cousin has not invited to the main dinner etc as she hadn't enough room.

She invited them to an evening do (but they will have to go home early as her husbands on work next day). But the aunts are annoyed and saying they dont want time slots or conditions she is either spending xmas day with them or she isn't.

I can see both sides but I dont know what are your families like how do you make arrangements without upsetting people?

Not anymore as we enjoy Christmas how we want too

For me, everyone is welcome. We might need to squash up a bit and sit on some dodgy chairs or substitutes.
You can always find space and a plate for one more person.

Unfortunately for me, I have the opposite problem now. Loads of space but no people.  :(

We go on holiday for two weeks to the Costa del Sol, no problemo.

It's quite a common occurrence IME.   Maximum diplomacy needed for the peace and goodwill season.  Strict adherence to taking it in turns often the only solution.

You're always going to upset folk when it comes to arranging anything.

We've been doing our own thing, quite happily for years now.
