Mandelson, one of the advisors who in December 98 told PM Blair that despite worries about the Horizon system at the PO, it would be prefererable to proceede rather that cancel, is now to become our interface with the Trump administration.

Well at least he has form and the US knows what to expect and will, I daresay, react as appropriate.  P.M. will spout off and look good in photos. I suspect that that is as far as it will go, although he will be silver-tongued regarding the EU and may soften a stance or two.

Had the new Ambassador possessed a modicum of diplomacy in the past it would have been wiser.  What on earth is going on in Starmer's head?   Frightening!
