Really disappointed in it except for the last 15 minutes or so.  My advice if you haven't seen it is to fast forward to there to save being bored!!!!

I've seen and enjoyed every episode of G&S prior to this, but I just didn't find this special remotely funny.  If any of it made you laugh out loud, please tell me which bits.  Of course the ending was satisfying, but it was utterly predictable and followed the same format of films like Notting Hill and Love Actually

You had to have watched it from the beginning really to catch all the nuances. Watching it in isolation would not have made much sense. I enjoyed it but I love all the characters and there were a few surprises all the way

no point it's all subjective, you'll just poo poo it as you are determined to have a downer on it.

Ooops - anyone who has never watched a programme can pass comment saying it was banal baffles me

After 3 series and 3 Christmas shows, I was really looking forward to the finale which I have just watched.  I thoroughly enjoyed it and for me it was just perfect.  Well done James and Ruth.  For those who have only watched the finale, you are really not in a position to make judgement on the show.

12:09/13:09 hear hear.

Best thing on Christmas TV IMO. Far play to the writers and cast.

I've never seen an episode but it still saddens me when fans are disappointed with a final episode.

I feel as if they've been short changed.

13:22 no fans are dissappointed, it's people watching it in isolation that don't get it. I don't know what they expected.

Die hard fan here. I was pleasantly surprised with last night's show. Everything was rounded off as it should be with a hilarious secret coming out as a bonus, still laughing.
Compared to the last Christmas special, it was great.

I thought the whole show was very well written with a greatending. A lot of the humour comes from in jokes some quite subtle that you have to watch all the previous episodes to fully get

//Never seen it, never will. Too banal for me.//

How do you know?

I totally loved it. It really made my Christmas Day. Loved the characters. I've watched all episodes so this made total sense to me. I guess the stag do was a bit sad when they realised they were getting older, but I guess it happens to all of us !!

As a long time viewer of G+S I must admit I  didn't enjoy it as much as usual. It was predictable to say the least. I moved to Barry 9 years ago and not once have I heard anyone saying "What's occuring", plus adding an extra S to a word such as "I knows that" true Barrians don't speak like that. Out of 10 I give it 7. Gwen's house was for sale and we viewed it but Trinity St was way too hilly and steep for me.

Viewing figure's. 12.5 million tuned in according to newspaper reports.

I enjoyed it.
Spoiler alert!

Nice to have a happy ending.
I think the fishing trip thing will be one of those eternal mysteries. Or did I miss a momentous reveal?

Thank you for my best answer Theblip.  Looks like we must stay united in our opinion of it.  And -yes - I have watched every episode of it!!!!
