I don't know about the west but this country is certainly afflicted with nonsense thinking.  Yes, books have always heen edited but not for the reasons they're being edited now.

We certainly are in the grip of a woke mind virus.  It infects every public institution in this country.  Personally I'm grateful there are some people who have power and influence in this world who are unafraid to speak out against it.

What the article in the OP demonstrates is how much Musk has changed in the last 10 years or so. Perhaps he's the one with the mind virus ... 

The next few years will definitely be interesting, and probably not in a good way. Instability is everywhere.

"mind virus" is simply spin. it is a way of pathologizing ideas that one disagrees with and justifying harm to those who express them. 
 

the "wokeness" controversy is a distraction from what the real problem in the west is - a parasitic class of billionaires who are bleeding the rest of the world dry.

I totally agree, it seems ironic that if to be woke is a positive thing, which actually I don't, but to be in an era also losing respect for others now greatly amplified, just seems so ironic. Just look at how out of control kids are today. Not all, but parents had the power taken from then years ago now. A whole generation have grown up with no discipline, mainly because irresponsible people have children, their still kids themselves, or act like it.
