No.

Won't say I actually dislike it, but the passing of the old year always seems sad.

What's wrong with New Year's Eve?

I don't dislike it, i just don't celebrate it as much as i used to. I'll most likely see the new year in with a glass or two of Martell.

No. I did when I was younger but now it sometimes feels a tad maudlin. No longer stay up all night dancing. 🕛✨🎉

I never liked it.  I suppose I'm more aware of the end of the old year than the hope the New Year brings.

Just another day to me, although I do like opening the window at midnight and hearing all the large ships in Portsmouth Harbour sounding off their hooters. Not to mention the fireworks!

^

Need to keep a clear head for all the racing tomorrow, Togo 😉

Why don't you like it..

I do find it a bit boring tbh (and scary because I don't know what in store next year)

No.  Years ago I loved it as a great party night.  Nowadays I just think that it is just another night and I am done with feeling obliged to stay up until midnight.  I'll be in my PJs by 8 and probably in bed by 10.  (Although it is fair to say that in this village anything yet could happen in terms of impromtu gatherings).

Nope, I'm with you on the 'bah humbug' sofa.  I used to enjoy the parties, the nights in the pub, in recent years Jools Holland on the box but I've lived through enough 'new years' to know that tomorrow will be no different from today, and 2025 will be little different from 2024

I wouldn't say I dislike it, particularly, I just don't celebrate it. There is a party in the residents' lounge of the flats where I live, but I won't be going. I will be in bed with the TV  on and perhaps send messages to friends and family, and watch the fireworks in London, but then I just snuggle down and  hopefully go to sleep. I remember going dancing straight from work in the 1950s, but never went out once I was married. Don't know why, it was just how we were.
Happy New Year anyway Naomi. Let's hope it a good one.

Similar to others here, I don't dislike it, just can't be arrised with it anymore. Done all the pubs, party thingy when I was younger.

Got myself a meat pie and some vodka and will be in bed for 10...

I love Xmas so NYE for  me signals the end of Xmas and it's just a massive anti-climax.

We're off out to a party, but this has been driven by Mrs Deskdiary - I'd much rather be at home. Don't get me wrong, I won't be at the party with a resting bitch-face, and I will enjoy myself, but I would rather be at home.

Pretty much the same as any other night. Not sad to see the back of 2024 - been a pretty crap year all round.

No.  I'm 1/2 Scottish and when Mum was alive I enjoyed it, but then the magic faded.  We haven't waited up to see it in for a few years - although there is a very special botle of whisky that only gets touched on this occasion.

After the 2024 we've suffered/are suffering - I can't wait to get rid of it.

I prefer a dinner with friends with good food and wine....forget the interminable wait for the Elizabeth gong to go off or Tommy Dubois's squib of a firework rocket going bang and making Lizzy Jones's pregnant poodle abort.

The dinner isn't happening this year for various reasons but I'll enjoy a stiff T&T (which I have to hand now), some good wine for dinner and a celebratory glass of Sauterne with dessert before turning in and reading my latest tome (on the life of Bernard Leach) before zzzz-time.

Happy New Year to y'all.

No different from any other night.  Never stay up till midnight, I would fall asleep even if I tried to.

I used to get very emotional on NYE, thinking about the past year and musing on what might be coming.
Now, I'm not bothered. I've got a bottle of pink fizz in the fridge in case we feel the urge. But, nah!

Memento Mori, for me. NYE is for young optimists, and I wish them well, for they are the future.

Hey, Hen; if y'ere here. Best wishes an' forgive ma 'telligence; a know it irks ye, Pet, but hey!. Have one on me.
