Is it worthy of the title?  I went there once and found it rather gloomy.

You mean Bradfordistan! PMSL! "City of Culture"? Right oh!

another part of the UK that the "patriots" among us seem to dislike lol. if i wrote this i'd be accused of talking the country down.

Does it say which culture?

Exactly.  Don't think it's British culture

mmmmm. for me, Bradford is summed up by the city's main bus station having been closed for a year due to "structural faults". there's no date as yet for its full reopening, nor whether it will eventually be replaced.

I can guess why thats been awarded.

It's a tip, with plenty of "no-go" areas for people like me.

funny how the terrorist apologists attack those of us that are concerned about the invasion and islamification of our country.

Have a think why that may be TTT.  Perhaps it suits their faith and beliefs?

It's a long time since I went there but I can't imagine it's any less awful now than it was then.

Isn't there at least one curry house on every street?

according to wikipedia the title will mean that bradford gets funding to improve its arts and travel facilities... i think the idea also is that they arrange events to celebrate the culture of bradford much like the previous winners did.

what's not to like? if you don't like bradford then don't go. it's good that places outside of london are getting a bit of investment and that the government invests in the arts.

"funny how the terrorist apologists attack those of us that are concerned about the invasion and islamification of our country."

your obsession with muslims borders on mental illness toratoratora. you've seen the word "bradford" and immediately thought of muslims and gotten upset. not sure who you mean by "terrorist apologist" but i've learned that you are really enjoy a bit of hyperbole so it could be anyone that disagrees with you lol.

I've not been there myself, but by all accounts it seems to be a glorious gallimaufry of different cultures.

13:49 I've been there me old china.

My wife was born in Bradford, I was born in Halifax, but I spent most of my early life (from 18 months old to 34 years of age) living in and around Bradford. It has gone downhill, that is certain. The standard of driving, for example, is very low. I cannot be too specific, or I shall fall foul of certain laws. My wife and I are not sorry that we left Bradford, and we have been back just once since 1992. Our visit was a disappointment, and we shall not repeat the experience. I have been told, by others, that Bradford is 'a mess', which I can well believe. 'Gloomy'? naomi24? You are not far off the mark, I believe. I cannot believe that Bradford will be called 'City of Culture'.

It's a box ticking exercise.

^Pointless childish post.

The birthplace and cherished home of J.B.Priestley. He waxed lyrical about the place that he adored. Unfortunately, that long and proud heratige of glorious Bradford has died with him. The place has degenerated alarmingly. Priestley must be spinning.

This is why, they can't afford to lose these votes
