Buenchico's Big Quiz
When I mentioned this on last Friday's BBC Quiz thread, there seemed to be some possible interest in it. So here goes . . .
I hosted a 75-question quiz night at our local community centre a month ago. For anyone who's mad enough to want to try it (perhaps with family or friends over Christmas?), here's a link to it:
https:/
Instructions (although they're probably not necessary anyway):
To download the zip file, simply click on the 'Download' button.
Save it to anywhere convenient on your computer (such as the Desktop or 'Documents).
To unzip the file, right-click on it and select 'Extract all'.
(The downloaded file can then be deleted).
Double-click the 'Quiz for AB' folder to open it.
The 'Welcome' document explains how the quiz was presented but it's not actually necessary to read it.
The 'Questions' document, unsurprisingly, has the actual questions in it (except for those for the picture rounds, which are the images in the 'Women', 'Flags' and 'Men' documents).
If you see '[Audio]', open the 'Audio' folder and double-click on the question number to play the relevant movie/TV/advert/poetry audio.
Easy peasy!
The winning score on the night was 44/75, so that'll give you a target to work towards!
Answers
No best answer has yet been selected by Buenchico. Once a best answer has been selected, it will be shown here.
For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.It's a DIY job, Tilly2.
Write your answers on a piece of paper and then check them against the 'Answers' document.
Hi, Alba.
The lowest score on the night was 15/75. My two friends in Italy managed 21/75 though, despite obviously being at something of a disadvantage when it came to the (UK-based) TV and advert rounds, etc
Good Evening, Chris!
I have finally managed to complete your quiz tonight after giving it another try. My laptop is very slow and temperamental, with very little storage left. It would not open audio clues on my first few attempts, but I finally got there.
I managed to score 32 / 75
(I wasn't going to share my final score as it was far below half marks, but I can see that it wasn't too bad after reading the other comments.)
My best rounds were Adverts, TV, General Knowledge and Famous Women, but as I expected I scored zero for the sport section.
Q63 was my favourite - My son, who was passing by at the time it was playing, shouted out the answer to 63 at same time as I did, because we had watched all of these episodes during lockdown, so this gave us a laugh!
Thank you so much for sharing. I can imagine the hard work that went into putting this quiz together. Loved the mix of questions that gives everyone a chance at something.
Good luck with the new quiz you are working on :-)
Hi Karamia!
Thanks for giving it a go!
If I recall correctly, you'd have come around 3rd (or perhaps just a little bit below there - but not by much!) among the 11 teams taking part. For a solo effort, I'd say that's really impressive!
Well done too on doing well in the 'Famous Women' round, as most people found that one to be quite tricky.
The biggest laugh I got on the evening was when I played the poem with the naughty word in it 😁
I'm fairly well into drafting the questions for the next quiz (which will be on 12 February). A lot of people from the last one have said that they want to come again and I've even got friends from Italy planning to turn up for it!
Thanks once again!
