Would you support it?
So are you saying they're all a waste of time and money canary? Including Covid, Grenfell, Iraq war, Hillsborough? Or just this one?
yes
well OK they fill the lawyers pockets so that is a Very Good Thing
Hillsborough is different- count the cost of ten years lying - it has led to all-seat stadia, which is a change over the whole of Europe
A most strange thing I find is that the world's richest man has suggested to the British monarch that because of the brouhaha caused by this undoubted scandal & stain on the country, that he calls for a general election.
This most newsworthy event, though it is recorded on most of the mainsteam media, I can find no mention of it whatsoever on the BBC website.
Royal Commission to look into the grooming gangs
hugely expensive ( note royal in the phrase) -
Public Inquiries: Typically more focused on specific events or failures, such as a disaster, policy failure, or scandal. Royal Commissions: Generally cover broader topics with national significance, often exploring thematic issues across society.19 Aug 2024
dont we know what happened ?
oh dear I have read JTH;s best answer: perhaps we DO need an inquiry
I just had a Breaking News uupdate flash up on my phone ... "Keir Starmer ignored grooming gangs whistleblower" but it disappeared before I could click on it.
So our now PM turned a blind eye to the mass rape and sexual abuse of underage white girls by Muslim grooming gangs?
Well I bloody never ... !!!

//..We know much of the who/when/why of the rapists.//
People only think they know, when in fact they know nothing. Believe me, you know nothing folks. Why should we believe you, I hear you say? I'm afraid I'm not at liberty to say, so just keep believing what you read in the media. It must be true if it's in there.
If there is sufficient pressure, it is possible that there could be an inquiry, but as the PM is himself implicated, plus the police & councillors etc. he would be very reluctant to initiate it (turkeys don't vote for Christmas) and if there was one you can bet it will be so complicated & necessitate such a long time, (several years) that little will come of it.
I heard somewhere that Reform UK, backed by Elon Musk's resources, are considering launching a private inquiry. How that would work, I don't know.
Here is one example. It happened approx 15 years ago, but this is nothing compared to some things.
One Friday teatime, two women had just left Greenbank music school on Whitworth Rd in Rochdale. They had four young girls with them and were going to the bus stop when a car stopped at the side of them. It had two young Asian men inside. One of them asked the women if they could "borrow" the girls for an hour and would be willing to pay for them. Just name your price. Of course they were told where to go. One of the women noted the car reg and reported it to the police. As it happened, she worked at a police station as part of the admin team. On returning to work, she looked at the crime reports from Friday and the incident had not been logged. When she asked why this had not been logged she was stone-walled and couldn't get an answer. There was lots of that, amongst other things.
