who in there right mind would want to introduce mxyi, Iiving in the country I have seen lots of rabbits with this terrible disease, having their eyes eaten by crows while they are still alive, why not get a gun or better still some ferrets. The pain and fear these poor creatures have to go through before they die all because of a man made disease beggers belive .
i` do NOT want to introduce it but the wild rabbit`s around my home town are dying at a staggering rate !also my G/f pet rabbit`s have just got mxymotosis. on monday they will be going to the vet for their latest checkup and i don`t the they will be comeing home with us
Hi Edd2, mixy is a horrible disease but domestic rabbits have a much better chance of surviving than wild rabbits and there's a lot vets can do to help....I really hope your g/f's come home with you....
Hi Edd, Unfortunately myxomatosis has a nasty habbit of reintroducing itself in waves into an area every few years.
Its mostly carried by the rabbit flea but can also use mosquito's or fur mite's as an intermeditory hoste.
If you are in an area where there are infected wild rabbits, it's advisable to get pet rabbits vaxinated against myxi every 6 months. Best regards Tbird+
