Care Of The Elderly

Can anyone think of an alternative? Mother-in-Law needs full-time care (vascular dementia). My wife looks after her 6 days a week. Her sister (grrr) will only cover Saturday evening to Sunday afternoon. The only alternative options I can think of are (a) care home; (b) full-time carers or (c) flat in assisted-living community. I can't help thinking there must be other options not occurring to me - which hindsight will one day make us kick ourselves for not thinking of it. Does anyone know of another way? For various reasons options (a)-(c) are not feasible. Grateful for any inspired ideas.

Does she need full time? A flat in assisted living won't give her full time care, and if you want the peace of mind that having people to call on gives, there's plenty of assistive technology that can help give you that.

Does she not have a house that could be sold to fund her care?  It would be much less stressful for your wife.
