A nice little story. One of the wind-surfing community my husband knows came adrift from his very expensive board which duly went sailing off by itself in the North Sea. A month later he got a message from someone in Denmark to tell him his board had washed up on their local beach.

Those who got help after slipping in the street were lucky. Whilst on holiday in Malta, I slipped when I was walking on a sloping surface in Spinola Bay and suddenly slipped onto my right side. I put my arm out and when I hit the floor I thought I'd broken my shoulder. I lay there in agony, unable to get up with everyone walking past and just looking strangely at me. I had to ask a couple to help me up, so no help forthcoming until I asked from the floor.
It was extremely painful and was really difficult to pack my case and travel home. On examination, nothing was broken but all the tiny muscles and ligaments in my shoulder had been torn and the doc said the only cure was time, which he reckoned was 2 years but I was back playing golf after 6 months. Still a long time with a dodgy shoulder. I still feel the effects of it today.
not least the time I fell down in the street -
no someone pulled pram over me - well I was on the pavement and in the way!
I returned the house keys ( which I kinda recognised) to a dissatisfied demanding ( oirish) tenant and she was JUST able to say thanks froo gritted teeth. Gosh soon forgotten. You dont do these things for gratitude
BUT I do greet the lady who found MY house keys, every time with a loud: "There is the lady who saved me £500 when she found my house keys!"
she purrs like a pussy cat
I remember when my Mum told me she slipped over in the ice and snow about 20 odd years ago. As she laid there hoping someone would help her up, a man walked by, looked diwn at her and said, "Funny sort of a day isn't it?" 😆 Eventually, someone did help her up. She wasn't hurt, just her pride, but we used to have a good laugh at said man's funny attitude! Lol
