japan and australia have said they will oppose but those countries are already in another trade zone with china so they obviously are open to it.
a golden opportunity for british diplomacy to make the case for chinese membership of CPTPP. that would benefit us and foil trump's plans, and improve our economic links with china.
What?Getting the Chinese to admit to causing the Covid crisis and paying massive reparations to the rest of the world for their incompetence. As far as i can see the rest of the world has been a wee bit to friendly to the Chinese regime, why the hell should we be sucking up to Xi and his murderous regime?
It wouldn't necessarily be undemocratic, but it would be extremely foolish. First off because the period of EU sour grapes has yet to finish so nothing has settled down to judge the situation and encourage UK politicians to extract their digit and make the most of the freedom to work for the benefit of the nation and it's citizens. And secondly because capitulating to the EU elite would mean accepting the unacceptable in terms of further demands, thus demonstrating that those who voted for such a reversal must either be deliberately trying to ruin the nation, or that they are so hard of thinking that they don't understand what they are voting for.
There has to be a sufficiently long term to allow the new status to settle in order to judge it properly, which is why any such vote must still be decades away. One can't allow folk to destoy a nation by flip-flopping and worse, indicating to the rest of the world that they are so indecisive that they can't be taken seriously.
