Massacre Of The Innocents
Gerry Adams notoriously said of the IRA: ‘They haven’t gone away, you know.’ The same is true of Islamist terrorism. In Syria, the new President Ahmed al-Sharaa sits atop an unruly coalition of jihadists and Sunni ideologues. Last week, al-Sharaa’s supporters unleashed a killing spree on a minority Alawite community This appalling atrocity is not the only cause for concern in Syria with the renewed persecution of Syrian Christians. It is happening all across the Middle East that Islamist extremism is a concern – it is spreading at an alarming rate across sub-Saharan Africa with the recent beheading of 70 Christians in the Congo an atrocity which barely caused a ripple in the media.
