GB news this morning said that the British love a peir? then go on to state that some have all but closed due to lack of visitors or they are falling apart. They also claim that peirs are a vital part of our heritage and history.

I can't remember the last time I walked along one, only to be greated by a dirty old cafe at the end and a boat load of gambling machines. When was the last time you walked along one.

Well done

I like piers.

Question Author

Good.

Nothing nicer than a bracing walk along the pier, followed by a stroll along the prom, prom, prom finishing off with fish and chips on the harbour wall.

Monday.

I have a choice of 3.

Last week

As.long as it's not Piers Morgan we're bringing back.

Last week also. We had tea.

Llandudno pier is the last one we walked along and it was very much in the old school type of pier, very traditional. However it's a few years since we went there, probably changed now.

Vagus, the hotel along Llandudno pier (The Grand?) was in a dreadful rundown state the last time I was there three or four years ago. Sad to see it like that.

Southport pier is lovely

Southport peir closed in Dec 22 unsafe.

Oh!

Question Author

Structural damage that no one wants to pay for, can't say I blame them really, how they going to get their money back?

never - I suffer from sea sickness!🤣

Southport pier is closed but only temporarily.

The last pier I walked along was at Meersburg on the Bodensee (Lake Constance to you!). The ferries which transport you around the lake & on to the other side which is Switzerland if you wish, dock at the end of it.

You can get refreshments along it and it is spotlessly clean - but then that's Germany 🙂

Also PEER popularity is at a pretty low ebb. 🤣
