No one doubts climate change, the planet is continually changing but has it become a religion for some? Beliefs without reason? Illogical deductions? Assignation of blame with no evidence? Just a few of the things this deity tends to do.

Plenty of reasons, which is why the scientific community agrees we mostly likely are the species that have tipped the scales and caused the issue. The problem is mainly world leaders blinkered to avoid dealing with anything with no short term benefit for them.  And the second problem are idiots willing to take their own nations into poverty while other nations are hardly bothering with the issue.

the greenhouse effect is demonstrable scientific fact and has been known about since the nineteenth century. so long as we keep pumping out fossil fuels the planet will continue to get warmer until human civilization is no longer sustainable. 
 

this is of course terribly inconvenient news if you make huge profits from fossil fuels and don't really care what happens after you are dead - and it is this class of person that has thrown its weight behind mr trump and this foolish initiative.

If the entire history of the earth were compressed into 1 day, mankind appears approx 2 mins to midnight. That's about 300,000 years. Of that we have reliable measurements of anything for at best 200 years. Yet we deign to make presumptions based on that microscopic sample. There have been changes and upheavel throught out the history of the planet for example the surface of the earth was covered in supervolcanoes pumping out more CO2 that our puny efforts. There is loads of evidence of anything you want, depending on your agenda, heating cooling, humidity, sea levels etc etc. Doesn't matter the planet looks after itself to quote the H2G2 we are just part of the program. The atmosphere was once very high in carbon until the autotrophs evolved to consume it. Then the heterotrophs evolved to convert it back again, yes peoplem all the animals are emmiting carbon at both ends all day. The earth will look after itself as it always has done. I just wish the ignorant eco warriors would learn about our planet as I have.

does anyone dispute that some gases absorb longwave radiation to a greater degree than others? that is measurable it is not hypothetical.

a greater concentration of such gases in the atmosphere over time will therefore result in more radiation emitted by the earth's surface, and gradually in more warming. such atmospheric changes can cause warm water currents like the gulf stream to be weakened, and therefore some areas of the planet can actually get colder while the overall temperature climbs.
