How Do I Complain?

So I need to officially complain to ITV but not sure how.

Basically ITV has just ruined our Saturday night entertainment, because they broadcast rugby from 7.15pm until 10.35pm, in fact its still running as I type this.

How on earth is broadcasting rugby which no one in my family can stand allowed to ruin prime time tele like Britain's got talent etc.

We basically have been stuck watching dvds.

Is this justified when they could just put rugby on another channel. My point is does it need to disrupt prime time Saturday night tele?

22:42 mate you are the weird one here most of us do something other than watch TV Sat night. The TV is on for the sad ones. Even if they like the programs most people I know will have them series linked and watch them anytime. Yesterday evening I went round a mates house and we had a beer, wine and brandy and Scotch and watched the climax of this years 6 nations. That's about the only time most will be watching TV on saturday night.

I have never watched BGT. Saturday night is homemade pizza night with daughter and grand kids. After its 1000 piece jigsaw, if the cats agree, or board game. Music in the background

"So you would rather abandon your family and go out on a Saturday night just avoid watching the tele? "

I don't  go out to avoid watching the telly. I go out because I prefer it to watching the telly -nespecially on Saturday night..

If I go out it's with my family. I haven't watched what's broadcast on the main TV channels on Saturday evening for at least 30 years. My abstinence began when TV bosses realised they could get away with karaoke, "open mike" and amateur night instead of paying for proper entertainment.

Isn't there a clause in any tv schedule listing that "programmes are subject to change" ?

The small print is there for a reason.

television has absolutely never been better than it is now. never. if you're willing to put in a tiny bit of effort the sheer amount and diversity of on demand viewing available to you is enormous. it doesn't matter what you like, there is an embarrassment of riches available to you if you are willing to put the slightest bit of effort into finding it.

tv is one of the few things about the world that's actually going well. if you can't find something you want to watch then you don't like TV.

i hate watching sports. i am just about old enough to remember what it was like when the tv actually was clogged up with sports broadcasting for a weekend. i am very grateful indeed that i can now easily go about my life without having any idea that the rugby or football or cricket or tennis is on. i hate them.

quenched... itv is not going to listen to you moaning about one of their most popular broadcasts. for the love of god find something else to watch. there is a banquet available and you are complaining about there not being enough crumbs on the floor.

I agree with you, Untitled. The only problem I have is finding the time to sit down and watch everything I'd like to.

Quenched- ITV is not a public service- it's a commercial offering. They set their schedules so as to maximise audience numbers and advertising revenues. They offer a selection of programmes and we either watch it, select another channel or find other entertainment.

ITV will look at the figures this weekend and pat themselves on the back as the  figures will look good.

There's no harm in letting them know you're upset but I doubt even if thousands do the same it will change anything.

Correct untitled, you hate sport, I hate soaps, there was a time when you ended up watching them because there was nothing else. When a quiz question comes up now my soap knowledge is from those days! I have not watched a soap for over 20 years! A bit of planning and you never have to watch anything you don't like.

Question Author

Untitled,

Sorry I disagree tv is better now.

I remember a time we only had 3 channels to worry about, and there were far more better things on, more memorable programs anyway.

Why else are there so many channels dedicated to the past from the era when we only had 3 channels?

If television was so great today we wouldn't need repeat after repeat.

Have you sent your complaint?

I can't stand soaps, and apart from visiting Mum I haven't forced myself to sit through them, however soap fans they're the worrst for complaining when it comes to rescheduling.

They're on all the fluffing time. but don't complain about them because they're not showing live football. I know this is about Rugby -v- BGT last weekend... go on AB let off some steam...

Have you seen this thread btw:
