I have a Rover 214, when it engine is running the lights start to flicker, when the engine is not running they are fine, what could the possible cause be thnx.

There may be a loose/chafed wire or connection which is affected by the vibration when the engine is running. Oyherwise you may have a faulty alternator or faulty voltage regulator.I would check the wiring first.
It could be that the Rover 214 is actually a Morris Marina and they are rubbish cos my dad had one...I reckon!
I'd go voltage regulator/alternator diode pack. When off the voltage is 12V from the battery. When running the voltage should be steady at > 12v to charge the battery. Yours is all over the shop hence flickering lights
If, when you rev the engine, the lights dim even more, the alternator is the likely candidate.
