Speeding Ticket

Just received a reminder about a NIP I had received 2 weeks ago. I had never recived the original, the police say that is not a defense for not sending in the information requested.
Is this correct, or does the 14 day rule apply here.

I had this with a parking ticket that I didn't incur. I was told that I had no defence by explaining I hadn't recieved one otherwise "everyone will say that sir". I just had to grit my teeth and pay the extra.

I thought that may be the case, no chance of beating the police I guess

The police will have a record of the NIP being sent, they are only sent by recorded delivery (so someone has to sign for it) or in person by an officer so if it really did not arrive they can check.
The NIP will be sent to the registered keeper and as long as it has been delivered to that address and not neccessarily you then the prosecution will continue!

Thanks for that. My wife and I both work so no one would have been home during the week and we never received anything during the weekend, to sign for.
We moved house in the last couple of months, I have checked there and nothing came for me there either. The people who used to live at our address have had their posted re-directed and I have checked with them also (justt in case).
I am the registered keeper, the log book address was updated.
So I guess their argument will be that it was still sent, full stop!
