Sleep Problems!
5 Answers
Hi, hope you can help!
My son (nearly 4) hasn't been able to get to slepp for the last 4 nights as he is scared!!
He has explained that he is scared of a 'problm blob' (a character on the Nuberjacks programme).we've explained that its not real, just on TV, Mammy and Daddy are there, will keep him safe etc - but its not working !!
He was absolutely hysterical last night and couldn't tell us what it was about but this morning he told us it was the 'problem blob' again!!

We tell her it catches all the bad dreams, and lets the good ones through. Worked a treat. If she has the occasional bad dream now we give the dream catcher a good shake out of the window because it must have got full up!
I remember going through this type of fear as a child myself, brought on by my over active imagination. My parents used to make a point of checking out that nothing was hiding in the room, looking under the bed etc..It made me feel better, and that they were listening to me...They also kept a small light on in my bedroom, and showed me they were leaving the downstairs doors open,so they could hear me,if I needed to call them.Once I felt safe like that, the fears subsided really quickly.Hope your wee boy gets over this soon :-)
I know it's not the ideal solution but my girl had same problem.I may get shouted at for suggesting this but...... when she woke up I used to take her in with me only so she would get to sleep again(i never did, having been pushed to the edge of the bed by a 3 year old with extendable legs).I never let her see the programme again (rubberdubbers, the shark scared her) and sfter a week or so of rough nights the image went from her mind and she never woke up due to that problem. If she does have a bad bad dream now due to other TV her oldersister might watch it's once in a blue moon,I haul her in bed with me,she's sleeping near Mummy so feels safe,I know my girl is getting sleep so I feel happier and the next night you'd never know it had happened as she sleeps like a rock.
