tracing german ancestors

After world war 1 my great grandfather and family, came to England . I have got as far as this in my family tree, could anyone please tell me how or if i can trace further back in Germany. Thanks

This site is quite good .. Mr. S is german and I had a german birth mother .We managed to trace lots of info from the links here
