I have noticed in the past couple of days that every time I try to stroke my cat's head, he puts his head down, and his ears, could there be someting wrong in his ears, and what could I get to treat it? He does shake his head a bit, could it be some type of fleas? He has Frontline but I expect in his ears it would be something else. Thanks all ! And thanks for answering my recent questions as well.
Hi, if he is shaking his head it could be ear mites. Failing that it could be a grass seed or something similar, these can cause alot of pain and discomfort so may be a visit to the vet is in order.
I agree with divegirl, smurfchops. Can you see anything in his ear that looks like black waxy deposits on the skin inside his ears? That would be an indication that he has earmites. He could also have an inner ear infection which would need antibiotics. Does he sit with his head on one side? Or turn in circles?
Take him to a vet asap, as all of these things can be very painful indeed.
He is shaking his head a bit, not much. Doesn't sit with his head on one side nor is he going around in circles (but I am) ... His ears look clean to me, he just doesn't want me to get too close if you know what I mean. I have some ear mite drops, I will try these Any other suggestions? Thanks everyone as usual
I always put a few drops of Olive or cod liver oil in the ears of all my pets once a week, the thick liquid will kill any mites, a spoonful for orally is usually very welcomed as well as most animals love the taste.
Thanks I will do this, by the way my daughter noticed a litle scab on the top of his ear, this was obviously the problem, usual fighting I suppose. I will keep a check on it anyway. Thanks every one !
