Brighton Museum and Gallery (near the Dome and Royal Pavilion) well worth a visit, particularly if you're interested in style/design/fashion (not just clothes!)
Brighton also has one of biggest 'alternative' shopping scenes outside London (North Laine). Lots and lots of quirky stuff.
Parking in Brighton is a pain, though. And quite expensive.
