blocking pop-ups

i use aol to browse the net but am being plagued with pop-ups that open up from internet explorer. they are often advertising online poker sites or adult dating sites etc
anyone know how i can disable these pop-ups?

Why don't you use Mozilla Firefox it has pop-up blockers as well as a host of other good features.
