Why have my petrol gauge, side lights and tacho stopped working.

Not the most technical of suggestions, but have you checked your fuses?

Thanks Lodekka but I had checked all the fuses. The owners manual doesn't cross ref to any fuse for these instruments. Because of this, I believe it must be something to do with the management system. I missed out that the speedo doesn't work either.

Having had several Alfa's in the past, you'll get used to this problem! they are notorious for bad electrics. It maybe that water has got into the electrical system, or like on my current Alfa, some of the electric switches (not the ones you press, but the ones included in the electrical system) are corroded or have broken. If it's any use, it's sometimes cheaper to take your Alfa to a Fiat dealer rather than an Alfa one for repairs etc.
