Does anyone know if malignant breast lumps feel different to benign ones in any way? (P.S I don't have a breast lump but was curious after a conversation in the office today!)
Not just by feeling it I don't think. My mum had to have a lump scanned which turned out to be a cyst so looks like any lumps have to be scanned first.... could be completely wrong of course.
My wife had breast cancer, she didn't have any lumps at all, when she checked herself she said it just "felt different" any worries at all ladies go get it checked, don't just think oh it's nothing, please get it checked xx
Someone in the office said that benign lumps tend to be mobile and regular round the edges and that malignant lumps have a tendancy to feel hard, irregular and 'fixed' to the skin. Just wondered if anyone had heard of this.
not heard of that, usually, you can never tell and should always get any differences checked - dont listen to office gossip coz it's usually just that!!! lol :o) xxx
I've had a large mass or lump in my right breast for 5 years. When my gp felt it she said it felt like mastitis as my breasts were sore to the touch. I needed a mammogram and a biopsy (aspiration) which determined I had a Fibroadenoma, a benign mass of gristle thank God! Always see your gp for any breast issue's Madgirl. Daisy.
Breast cysts often feel uncomfortable and 'tight', I was told by a nurse at the breast clinic that, as a rule of thumb - but not in every case, usually the cysts hurt but the nasty ones don't.
