I have just installed XP on a used drive.My original system was 98,but the drive failed.On 98 I could connect to the net,but with XP it wont. Is the modem out of date?
I downloaded a driver but it has not made any difference.

I think an out of date driver is the problem.You may be able to download one from the manufacturer or look one up at Microsoft under "Legacy devices".
Might be easier just to buy a new modem card.
