Planning permission for stables

Is it true that if stables have been built for more than seven years and you can prove this with evidence, that the law will not make you take them down even if you originally did not have planning permission?

Correct, under the Town and Country Planning Act. Its four years (not seven) if this was a new structure just put up without the necessary Planning Permission.
