Battlefield 2142 installation problem

Heres what Ive done...

Installed 2142.Installed patch whilst game was open which apparently is bad. According to EA you have to uninstall the game and reinstall in order for the game to work properly again after this so i did.

Re-installed game...went to play and there are no exe files !Have uninstalled and reinstalled again but still same error.

Please help this is driving me mad !!!!!!
