i have a friend who has been dating a guy for 4 months. she is debating breaking up with him because he ditches her to hang out with his guy friends often. also, sometimes, if she spends the night at his place, he promises to drive her home in time to make it for school, then says "oh sorry, gotta get to work" and leaves her at his house by herself for up to 10 hrs. this is her first bf by the way. she came over today, very upset, because he promised her he would come out so they could talk about things like this, she was waiting for over an hour, and he never showed up, not even a phonecall. she says she thinks she loves him, but is sick of him doing this to her. should she break up with him and move on, or should she try, for probably the 3rd time this month, to fix the problem?

definitely move on. Why on earth does she think she loves someone who treats her with such total indifference? If she stays much longer she'll start imagining all guys are like this, and they're not. Plenty more fish in the sea, and better ones.

Hmmm, obviously she is being used, but if she gives in to him all the time and lets herself be used, then its her own fault. I know you say its her first boyfriend but she needs to get a grip. Otherwise she will end up 'bitter' and take it out on all future boyfriends...
