Sky+ v Sky HD

I am in the throes of moving house and trying to evaluate what to do with regards to watching TV.

I currently have an old TV and a Sky+ box and will be asking Sky to come and install some kind of system in my new house. This is where I start to have no idea of what to do next!

What sort of cost would I be looking at to :

buy an HD-ready TV and get Sky HD put in my lounge and bedroom?

or would I be better :

buying a new (digital) TV and keeping my Sky+ box?

Basically skyHD is going to cost you extra (�10 per month) as well as upgrading your tv and box. Will this provide you with a better viewing experience? honestly it is doubtful at the moment. HD tv's are not upto scratch yet, they are capable of receiving HD pictures but they don't show them in the best light ( few exceptions but very expensive) also the content from sky may not be in the best just yet. Personally I'd hang on for a bit, prices will start to tumble soon as well.



The other thing to consider is program choice.

Programme choice? So if I got Sky HD instead of keeping my Sky+, I'd have access to less programmes?

No I mean do you regularly watch programs that would benifit from improved picture quality, usually nature docs or films. The added quality is expensive so you should be sure that you watch the type of programs that will benefit most. Only a few channels are available in HD (although this will rise) do you make use of these channels in their normal format?
