Some advice please!!

How old do you think a puppy needs to be to be left alone (in a safe place indoors) and how long is acceptable?

I feel really guilty going out but dont think I should spend all my time with her (she is 2 months old - and gorgeous!!)

Many thanks.

i left my 8 week old puppy for up to 4 hours ata time while i was at work and he was fine,i didnt fuss him when i got in and now hes 10 mnths i leave him up to 6 hours with no probs, but i dont think any longer than that even for an adult dog even though im sure they would be ok.xx

Oh thats good - must just get over my guilt then!! I feel a bit bogged down with it at the moment - seems a constant round of going in the garden etc. Am tired and feeling a bit regretful. However, I absolutely love her to bits and shes great. Suppose this is like having a newborn - seems a bit daunting. I am sure it will get loads better especially when I can take her out after her 2nd injection.
i had same prob...like post natal depression!! it gets better though trust me,i felt regretful at times and guilty but dont worry you'll soon get in to routine and enjoy your pup! x

Blimey - you have made me feel much better!! Poor you in your dressing gown in a cra park - I have got it easy!!

Must admit though - the builders next door give me funny looks outside in my dressing gown, Asda slippers and husbands enormous fleece - what a sight!!
dont feel guilty leaving him,i leave mine and go home at lunch times to take him out and its all good now.i leave him in my hall with water dry food and toys with his bed and blankets.its a small area but theres nothing to hurt him in there so its best for him.x
i still go out in the dressing gown now and hes 10 mnths!! but at least hes quick and wees as he now knows what to do!! my struggle paid off in the end!!

Well I have had 2 babies and really not sure which is easiest!! Only joking a baby is more work but they wee in nappies and cant get around and chew everything!!
Hi, you mention leaving your puppy for six hours. While this may be OK on occasion.... a very rare occassion, this really is quite a long time for any dog to be left alone. If you have to leave your dog for this amount of time I would suggest getting a neigbour or some one to pop in to make sure the dog is OK.

I agree with you - I will only do a couple of hours to start with. I am lucky - all my neighbours are fighting over her as shes so cute so sure i will have help!!
I think 4 hrs is the maximum to leave any dog!
