Weird phobia type thing

This is my first question, so be kind!
I have a real dislike (not as serious as a phobia) about having something tight around my neck. I would love to wear a turtle neck, but I cant. Even scarves and necklaces annoy me. Its a very uncomfortable feeling / fear I have.
Do you think hypnotism will help?

I dont think hypnotism will work. Wont you get scared by the chain with the medallion on the end? It might make it worse.You might think he is gonna wrap that chain round your neck.
I think your fear comes from when you was younger. Maybe you was a real nosey little girl and always wanted to turn your head to see what was going on, but the teachers kept forcing you to look straight. Now, you hate the feeling of anything remotely interferring with your neck. you like to be able to move it around freely.

Is this made worse by particular situations, e.g. where there is a sense of loss of control, such as an exam or very official meetings ? Is it worse in the morning ?

I feel like that if I have to wear a shirt and tie, it makes me gag, as does sitting in the dentists chair..mouth wide open and her prodding metal things in my mouth

whiffey - I guess its worse when I have to sit down at work. I am more aware of the situation and actually sit with my hand pulling away the neckline so it doesnt bother me.

MrB - I wasnt a nosey kid, I was actually very studious and attentive.

divegirl - I have thought about this too, I also thought that perhaps I was a dog with a very tight collar!

I have the same thing - I hate polo necks. I also hate seeing men shaving on adverts especially under their chins. Am I weird as well?!

OI hate my neck touched to especiall when the barber shaves my neck!! I recon my mum must have tried to strangle me when I was a baby!, Miss Admarlow is currently getting hypnotheripy for a dog phobia is about �50-�80 per session and people usually have 3 or 4.

My friend's mum has the same thing. She's even lumped her hubbie when he's pulled the duvet up to their necks in bed. Even she doesn't know what started it though...

I have a sleeve phobia, I don't mean I run and hide from anyone with sleeves !! It's just that I get sort of palpitations from being enclosed in them. so I can imagine how you feel with high necks.Thinking along the lines of past lives- perhaps I was mummyfied.

I hate anything around my neck too. I can't be doing with polo necks or scarves etc.... I feel like im being throttled!
