ABers 15 minutes of fame.........
31 Answers
The guests on all of the quiz shows, talk shows, reality shows etc. must be from somewhere. Just wondered if any of you have had your 15 minutes or know anyone who has?
I have to admit, my only claim to fame is meeting The Chuckle Brothers when i was 12.

I was also on the back page of the Morning Star, and I too have a Blue Peter badge!
Oh good grief! This is going to sound so unreal in a way. But here goes -My dad was a much loved actor/singer with his own BBC and Radio Eireann shows (13 in all), he was in a few films and I was on stage with him a few times as a child. A cousin - one of the nicest guys you could ever meet - had one of the leading roles in "Father Ted" and played Pierce Brosnan's father in a major film along with many other great roles in film and theatre. As a child I met Judy Garland, John F Kennedy's right hand man Pierre Salinger, Satchmo (Louis Armstrong), Andres Segovia, Pat Boon, The Andrews Sisters and numerous other famous people. My brother was in High School with Precilla Beaulieu and took her out a few times before she met Elvis Presley and became Mrs. Precilla Presley. I once received the biggest bouquet of flowers I have ever seen from Sir Harry Secombe. He was a great friend of my Dad's, as were Peter Sellers and many other wonderful actors of that era. I have had the privilege to meet astronauts, US senators, former Taoiseach Gareth Fitzgerald, famous dancers, international actors, singers and musicians, - and many of these are in our family guest book. On the sadder side though, I was in a film Panorama made about my son who died of cancer and was interviewed many times by local and national radio and press journalists. As a simultaneous translator I met many leading international politicians, which put me off politicians for life!! My conclusion is that all of these famous people are no different than any one else really. Some were really nice good people, others just weren't. My Dad never treated his famous friends any differently than any of his other friends who had nothing but their immense character and integrity and I am so grateful that my parents taught me to do the same.
Was in the background of a movie being filmed in Venice Beach LA with Steve Martin, Adam Sandler etc...
See all kinds of famous people round Manchester including a load of the Corrie cast in local pubs (worked right by Granada Studios) and round work and at my gym and others when I lived in Belsize Park in London.
I know someone who used to be in Grange Hill for a long while too.
Not as good as Carakeel though..wow! :) x

uh..... ok well my 'famous' people aren't all that well known lol my dad was an opera singer so most of the people i've met are to do with the music business. my dad studied with andrew lloyd webber and was taught by his dad
One of our family friends is the guy who invented the chuckle brothers and directed grange hill and his partner drew some very camp looking dragon thing that was on tv back in the 80s.
another family friend's wife was a dancer with the royal ballet and for some reason they have one of margot fontein's tutus tried to get me to wear it. I'm only 5"3 and size 10 (uk) but this thing was seriously tiny! she must've been about a size 6 or something :S
um.. i met the archbishop of canterbury at an opera once
and john copley...
i wore a pair of marty webb's shoes when i was on stage and met the queen, charles, william and harry a few times.. also met Ronan Keating, and toadie from neighbours
.... um... went to school with anthony head's kids... met Terry Jones (of monty python) a couple of times: he is the most adorable man in the world!!!
mum worked at harrods in the 70s so she met loads of famous people - the beatles, princess diana, indira gandhi, moira stewart etc etc
meh i dunno, probably met more, but 'celebrities' these days aren't up to much - none of them are particularly impressive and they're so disposeable. now Judy Garland - I'd have LOVED to have met her - she is a true legend! so jealous Carakeel! what was she like??

The group I played in was featured in our local paper and on the news .
No we weren't that good, or talented, or successful ~ the pub we were playing in caught fire, started because the electrical sockets were overloaded
<Hangs head and walks away in shame>
Yeah, it was our equipment that caused it.
