Am considering using some re-inf mesh [as used in concrete] for a trellis, any ideas on fixings on a brick wall, so that it stands proud from the surface? All I could think of was galvanised hooks

You can buy special nails with a lead flange from the head which is bent over to secure the trellis, after driving into the mortar/brick. to raise mesh from the wall place a wood block behind the mesh before inserting nail through it into the wall.
Sorry, forgot to say - nails should be obtainable from a good garden centre who also sell other special trellis fixings.
