Hope someone can help a novice! I have an acer laptop and recently boght some speakers (infinity) . They have a socket which goes into the microphone plug in but when used the volume is really low. Not exactly what I was expecting! I have gone onto the control panel and put the volume to max on everything but to no avail. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance
Thanks very much for responses, yes I did mean the headphone and not microphone socket - sorry!
Have gone onto control panel and turned everything to maximum that I could find but to no avail.
Unfortunately there are no volume controls on the speakers.
Hey ho, maybe the speakers are not very good!
Are you sure the speakers are intended for PC use. Infinity make excellent Hifi speakers which are normally driven by a high-powered amplifier. Something a laptop certainly doesn't have.
I would imagine the speakers need some kind of power supply (battery or mains) as the signal from a headphone socket would be extremely low. How quiet are they, strain to hear anything quiet or just not enough to fill a room?
If there is no volume control on the speakers themselves then I would guess they don't include an amplifier, so will not be very loud! Is there a mains or battery provision for them? If not, then they definitely don't have an amplifier, so will not be noticeably louder than the internal speakers.
Thanks guys, yes it is an amp problem but was mislead buy the seller, am now getting refund and feel confident about it thanks to you coming up with same suggestion as my friend.
Thanks a lot
