LOVE'S MERRY-GO-ROUND by Maureen A Jeffs
Requited love is paradise
Well, for a little while.
He smiles at her, she smiles at him,
They marry in some style.
They plan their future years ahead
And gradually attain
The goals which they have set themselves,
Without much sweat or pain.
Each day is like the one before
No shiver of surprise
Until the day, that fateful day,
Her gaze meets other eyes.
Those feelings that she thought had died
When she became 'the wife',
Return in extra measure
And she sparkles with new life.
She fights her feelings, well aware
Of all that she might lose,
But when he says, 'Come fly with me',
She knows she can't refuse.
Requited love or blighted love,
Some lose while others win;
For love may make the world go round
But passion makes it spin.
