I say no because generally 'This' is how you start to answer a question not how you would phrase a question.

There's an apocrapful story about a philosophy exam at the University of London which contained this

A student is said to have replied "yes if this is an answer"

The student is meant to have failed and the observation made that had he been at Oxford he would have passed due to the greater tolerance of smartarses there.
