I am contemplating making my own Biodiesel.
I have plenty of space and facilities to do so.
I have got one problem though.
I am not sure where I can get hold of the huge quantities of Methanol that is reqiuired. I will need a 45 gallon drum of it.
Does anyone know of a wholesale supplier in Manchester area

I would suggest you look into the Health and Safety aspects of manufacturing Bio-diesel using Methanol. Methanol is higly volatile/flamable/poisionous and I reckon your insurance company would have something to say on the matter.
Also look into the cost efectiveness.
We use methanol at work and it isn't cheap.

Thanks for that. While i'm on the subject, can you run a diesel on straight methanol as one of the many alternative fuels that are around i.e vege oil, kerosene, bio-ethanol etc
Warning on methanol label - poisonous by inhalation/consumption/skin contact - don't pi** about with it.
I'm sure you would be able to economise by reducing the pressure of your right foot on the pedal.
Methanol is used in dragsters literally because of its extrememly volatililty - not to be messed with.

I was well aware of the dangers associated with methanol way before I posted my question, what do you think I am going to do with it - drink it?
The question I ws asking (in case you forgot) was is it possible to run a diesel engine on methanol fuel?
