Spending euros in the UK

Hi, am I correct in thinking that there are stores here in the UK that accept payment in euro (eg M&S), as they also show their prices in euro? If this is the case, then surely that means I can spend my left over euro coins in those stores...thanks

Quite a few stores, including M&S, accept euros but (outside of the main tourist areas) this is not widely advertised.

Many rail stations also accept euros for the purchase of tickets but there is no uniformity across the country. Rail operator 'one', for example accepts euros at former WAGN stations but not at those previously operated by Anglia Railways or Great Eastern.

You most certainly can but the exchange rate is generally rubbish and they won't accept coins.

If you plan on going to a country that uses the euro within the next 12 months you may as well hold on to them.

Or if you bought your euros from the Post Office or other place that doesn't charge to change them back, take them back.

Just remember that with the Post Office (and anywhere similar) you still lose the difference between the buying and selling rates even if you don't pay commission.

Hang on to them for another trip or sell them to a friend who is going on holiday.

Sorry this answer might have no relevance, but would you believe I had a few euro's and I went into a shop to play the euro lottery with them and they were refused...lol

I thought I'd give it a try and said 8 other countries are using these to buy a ticket...

But I discovered that a Euro is worth 88pence at the time and our lottery charges �1.50 to play the euro lottery, when in other countries its only 1 euro to play.

Sorry Jason but in France we pay 2� per go on euromillions. Would be interesting if someone not in the eurozone won. What exchange rate would they get...?
