dont use the sub sections !

i cant see what all the fuss is about in all honesty..
doesnt matter a jot to me how many sub-sections there are. if i want to ask a question, i will use the main topic section..
ive looked in the sub sections and to be honest, i think most are quite good....
obviously there are a couple that wont get much use and the AB team will remove them at their discretion.
this is the same place as it was 3 months ago or 3 years ago.
its the Answer Bank...

i think the changes were disliked from day one. i cant say it was a leap forward, moke like a step sideways.
not changing for the better but not getting any worse.

i intend to stick around and see how it pans out.

my only complaint has been the way the AB was allowed to police itself... too many a$$ holes wanting to be top dog.......

But, also, disappointed by -

(Old) Ed publishing statements (e.g. on what is accepatble in AB Suggestions) then doing nothing about the mayhem that ensues and undermines this Site;

The current policy of silence .... has there been another replacement of Ed?

Seems to me that a stronger Ed and Editorial Team is needed for this Site to be run for the benefit of the majority, not for the benfit of dog-fighting

The sub sections don't make it any harder to ask a question, just harder to browse if you are seeing if there is anything you want to answer or just to read. I suspect that people leaving is already happening which is a shame

Just use the main topic, ignore the subs. If you don't use it - you lose it! It will wheedle out the no goers.

As said by you p there has been no response from ED, no newsletters sent out, emails not replied to.

i have to say, i agree with you! I dont really post in the subs either so i suppose you're right in the fact that, if they dont get used then they'll die their own death.
I also agree with you that answerbank is still the best despite the changes, i've never come across a better Q and A site anyway.!
Now, let me think if there is anything for me to disagree with, there must be, i'll get back to you LOL

Right funky, i have thought of something, i dont think that most of the sub sections are quite good, i think most are pointless! I also think they have killed some of the atmoshphere of the AB but like you said, it is still the best of its sort!
Hopefully you will be right and they will phase them out in time if they are not proving to be popular!

i dont like the sub sections any more than the next person, but i dont intend to moan about them. i honestly dont think there is another site that offers as good or better than we have here.
what i think its down to is that the AB is a buisness. it needs to evolve to make money. its a tried and tested formula that has been tweaked. if the advertisers like it, if the AB management like it, who are we to tell them they are doing it wrong ???

funky..........call me sad on this but i have thought about what you have said all day, the bit about the AB evolving to make money and all.

heres my point,meant in a very friendly chat kinda way because i really respect your views and you and jules are no doubt my faves here but here goes.

if i was to change my business to make the investors happy then that would be great, but, if my customers were unhappy then the investors would not get the returns they are obviously looking for, thus making it a pointless investment that would lose them money!

so if its a tax loss they are after then i will say ok?

Huh??? This seems contradictory to what you've previously stated?? But....ah well.......lot of stuffy, gratuitous criticism here about my 'question'....[British thing?] . The implication being this writer is obtuse, non compos mentus, etc., "look here, look there", sub section, blah, blah, blah, blah.
I haven't time to wade thru this sites encyclopedic indices. [I'm old, cranky, impatient] , so save the sarcasm ....[you know who you are] for those family members that are still swinging among the branches. If you wanna swap words with me...get up early, study hard, and take your vitamins.

funky............. the advertisers are paying for this site because of the amount of hits it no doubt generates? but if the hits are affected for the worse then as an investor (ie advertiser) i would be worried?

some of the sub sections are so piontless no words can explain it.
