Naz, thank so much for that, it looks like a great read, Ive only had chance to flick through a few pages and found it very interesting that he is faced with the black and the brown rat and uses ferrets to hunt them as I first did in my early days as a rat catcher.

One of the best and funniest books I have ever read is Tales of a Rat Hunting Man by Brian Plummer (now deceased) how he hunted rats in an old maggot factory and bone-yards, he was a great author and a genuinely funny man, also a very knowledgeable dog breeder of which he wrote some very interesting books as well.
