Bush and Blair pipped at the post
In defiance of the hostile attitude of the USA and Britain in trying to bring a peaceful solution to the Iraq crisis Iran has organised a mini mid-east summit between Syria and Iraq. Do you think this will have more success than the coalition has managed in the last 3 years? Do you think that the coalition troops stationed in Iraq will be an impediment to this solution?

The US will not allow it to. Even though the Americans are desperate to cut and run at the ealiest opportunity, they will not leave Iraq under Syrian and Iranian influence, after all, after the nabbing of the oil, the other objective was to stem the rise of fundamental islam that Iran represents. Oh, and Syria and backed by the Russians.
Thankfully the USA, but not Britain, have realised the Iraq adventure was a gross mistake and there is much debate over there how to extracate themselves from this horrible mess. Like N.Korea, like Iran, the nuclear crisis can only be resolved by participating countries who are on more friendlier terms with these rogue nations and not solved by just using the big stick. You are right when you say the final solution rests with the USA but they will need to sit back and let others handle it more diplomatically first.
