Fitting Ceiling lights

I have bought a new ceiling light for my bedroom and want to know the correct way of wiring it. The current fitting has three cables attached to it, one of which carries 240v permenantly.

Sounds like your switch is wired wrongly. It should interupt the "live" (brown or red) wire. Need to sort this out as it could be dangerous. Then connect brown or red and black or blue to "bulb" and green and yellow (earth) to the metal frame.
