after reading another thread earlier about an old wives tale,i was just wondering if anybody believes in them(if so which ones)because they've happened to them...................does that make sense?!

Not quite an old wives tale as such but what about your mum telling you when you were a kid to 'stop that before someone loses an eye'. Has anyone ever lost an eye because they didnt 'stop that'?

Nice one warpig...My mum used to say that too, as well as

`stop running around, you`ve just eaten and you`ll be sick`

`move back from the telly or you`ll get square eyes`

mind you...I say all those things to my kids, lol

my moms thinks EVERYTHING will take an eye out!!!if i throw a cushion at my sis,it'll take her eye out! chuck the ball for the dog,whoow there goes my eye again!
jump out from behind the door and absolutely terrify her,yep you guessed it!!
she also says not to cross on stairs
dont sweep under feet,
its bad luck to put a hat on the bed,
dont make a bed on a Friday,
cover mirrors in a lightening storm!!
