Hello

I've got this Trojan/Worm on my computer and although I'm running "avast!" and it picks it up every day at start-up, it never really goes away, though I delete it on a daily basis.

I'm guessing it's tucked away in the start-up registry so I thought if I disabled 'system restore', it would work its way out of the computer but it's still there chuntering merrily away every time I switch on.

Lots of the software that say they detect the variant Win32 worms doesn't even seem to know it's there.

Hmmm...

Any suggestions as to how I rid myself once and for all of this pesky blighter?

It just aint cricket...

It seems to be a false positive in Avast, so nothing to worry about:

I know my pc is clean, so I' m downloading avast now to see if it finds the same thing.

Thanks, Ethel...

It possible that you're right.

Because 'avast!' does this on startup every time though, it's difficult to check first using another service as it gets in first every time before I can compare with another bit of software...

Bottoms...
I installed avast and ran a pre-boot scan. It found it (surprise!) and I removed it.

I have now uninstalled avast - but I am sure you have nothing to worry about, especially if your pc is running properly.
