Thanks for that, Athley ... we've a 25 pound turkey nearly ready and American football is on the television... plus I've been guaranteed I won't have tp help with the dishes since I did most of the cooking... (I'm sure they'll have to roll me to the couch afterward!)...
What a sweet thing to do Athley!!! Thank you!!! We had a great Thanksgiving. My little 8 year old niece spent the day with me while her Dad made Thanksgiving Dinner for us. We had:
Turkey
Ham
Broccoli Casserole
7 Layer Salad
Pasta Salad
Dressing/Stuffing
Yeast Rolls
Green Beans
Corn
Fudge Pie
Pumpkin Pie
and I am sure I am forgetting 3 or 4 things - we had a full table:) Now I am more stuffed than the turkey!!!
Thank you again Athley for thinking of us - wish you had been here!!!

Wow you both sounded like you had a fantastic day.

Hope you did manage to get out of the washing up Clanad and that the football team your family support won!

I would love to know what 7 layer salad is BBW and can you post the recipe for fudge pie - that sounds delicious.

Bye for now from a very windy rainy UK!! :o)

Athley - I will have to get the Fudge Pie recipe from my Brother-In-Law - it is his signature dish:) But I have the 7 Layer Salad for you - it is much better if you make it the night before so the flavors blend - and yours should be better than ours because you have that REALLY nice smoked bacon - much better than ours I am told:

Seven Layer Salad

455 g bacon
1 large head iceberg lettuce - chopped
(or buy it pre-chopped in a bag)
1 red onion, chopped
284 g frozen green peas, thawed
285 g shredded Cheddar cheese
295 ml mayonnaise
Celery - chopped.

Place bacon in a large, deep skillet. Cook over medium high heat until evenly brown. Crumble and set aside.
In a large flat bowl, place the chopped lettuce and top with a layer of mayo (a little hard to spread, but it won't show:), onion, peas, celery, shredded cheese, and bacon. Repeat the layers until everything has been used.
A trifle bowl is great for this salad.

Thanks for the salad recipe. Lovely. I will try it and make it the night before as you suggested. We have been invited to a neighbours house next weekend it could be a nice dish to take with us as a little extra something.

How lucky are you having a brother in law who makes fudge pie!! I wish I had a b in law like that. Hope he gives up his recipe to you (I know sometimes its nice to have a secret dish that nobody else can do so don't worry if you can't get it!)
