I was under the impression the poem was originally
I saw a man upon the stair
A little man who wasn't there
He wasn't there again today
Oh how I wish he'd go away
The whole poem was allegedly changed by a technician at roswel airbase and written on the toilet wall as graffiti
I saw a disc up in the air
A silver disc that wasn't there
It wasn't there again today
Oh how I wish it'd go away
