Computer processor worry, Whats goin on?

I've gotten my computer back from the shop, just had a new case fitted along with a motherboard and graphics card, before i sent it in i had a VIA motherboard and an AMD 64 3200+. This is what I could see when looking on system information using windows XP. After getting it back, my components having been added to an ASUS motherboard, I go to system information to find that my processor is now a '"AMD engineering sample 00,-850mhz ". Can someone please tell me their suspicions, I don't know whether to take it back or disbelieve the system, it's definatelly running slower, loading times are phenomenal in comparison, with the same 2gb RAM. Anyones thoughts please.

I don't suppose you know what the heatsink etc. looked like on your old processor, inside the case? You could take a look and see if it looks different too.

Sounds a bit suspect to me though.

Cheers Foenix, as usual genius answers, quick as, I'm going down there now. Checked the case, if the heatsink is the cpu fan then it's the same, my brand new case fan is gone though and the ports at the front don't work, fortunatelly my grandad knows the manager there, it was that chav new guy that "repaired it". Hopefully it will all get sorted out, thanks again Paun Computers.

Hi Steve, it wasnt no, there are overclocking options available tome now with the new motherboard that weren't available before. I can select a frequency and a multiplier for the cpu. The processor was a 3200+ @ around 2.1 ghz,
with the frequency set at the default value of 200 and the multiplier at 9.5 i'm getting 1.9ghz, is it safe to underclock it? If i increase these values it cuts out and won't boot. There are overclocking otions for the graphics card too, with no help in the manuals and none from the computer shop who after being told my processor was a model amd 64 3200+ proceeded to overclock it to 3 ghz, told me it now worked and sent me off with a computer that crashed. Are there any sites i could could check for the information? This is getting right up my nose!!

There is a program called cpu-z that will tell you what processor. motherboard and so on are in your computer.
