St Albans - Saturday
4 Answers
OK, just want a few ideas on what to do. We're going down to St Albans on Sat for a mates birthday. I've been before, so I know the pubs etc are fairly good in the evening, but we need something to do during the day.
He's on about going down about 12, and unless we can come up with something else, we're gonna end up spending all day in the pub. Normally this wouldn't bother me, but (a) We've got tickets to go see a comedian at 8.30 and we're unlikely to make that if we're drinking from 12 and (b) A couple of the guys coming can't handle their drink and will be wasted by 3 O'Clock!
Obviously, nothing too high brow for a group of lads on a birthday day out, but any suggestions would be welcome.

Fighting ***** pub and the Peahen used to be good if you do resort to a day in the boozer. Or you could nip down into nearby Hemel Hempstead, there's quite a bit going on there, good shops and so forth. You can eat well in Hemel also. Hope you all have a good day anyway...
Thanks guys.
Got off train at Harpenden to go bowling, only to find the bowling alley was a carpet bowls club! Damn internet!!
Not only was M1 shut sat night, but they were doing engineering works on the railway between St Albans and Luton too. Sometimes have to wonder whether there's any planning going on anywhere!
Peahen seemed a little like an eatery when we went past, and the fighting ***** is down by the cathedral isn't it? never really ventured over there.
