Fleet?
I have Fleet
Do you have the answer to the Earl's Stack?
Rumour has it that it should read Earl's Snack = SANDWICH!
I can't see the logic in Fleet. It makes me think of Nelson's "I see no ships" quotation, so "SHIPS"???
I like the logic of Phil7 - and note that there is a NELSON in Lancs but it has 6 letters! I wonder if there has been an error when counting letters - and the 5 should be 6 (?)
The logic of Fleet is that it is an inland town and therefore no ships can be seen.
I like Nelson too, but as you have pointed out it has the wrong number of letters.
I can't understand your posting Phil7. Are you suggesting "ships" as an English place name.
Nice one geo0939! Another criticism of the Nelson theory is that he "turned a blind eye" to the signal "not to engage" saying something to the effect "I see no signal"! No mention of warships!

PS have racked my brains and asked everyone - but stll no idea on earls stack - it must be a typo?
I believe you have a typo there. I don't do this quiz but I've heard this should be earls snack- Sandwich.
Just noticed crofter answered this earlier on this post.
There are two places (in Northants and Oxon) called ISLIP (= ONE SLIP). I'm not doing this quiz either but that looks like it!
Blackpool (Tower)?
